Georgia football’s uniforms set for Sugar Bowl vs. Notre Dame

The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs will wear red jerseys when the Bulldogs play the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl.

The jersey matchup is expected to be the same as when Georgia played Notre Dame in 2019 and the 1981 Sugar Bowl. Georgia will wear silver britches and red helmets along with their red jerseys. Notre Dame is expected to wear whites jerseys, golden pants and a golden helmet.

Georgia and Notre Dame are two of the most recognizable and iconic brands in college football. This is a uniform matchup for the ages. Both teams have some of the most unique and best uniform combinations in the country.

Georgia (11-2, 6-2) won the SEC championship against Texas, but it came at a price. Georgia lost quarterback Carson Beck and punter Brett Thorson for the season.

UGA head coach Kirby Smart is 2-0 in his career against Notre Dame. The Bulldogs are 4-0 against teams in the playoff field.

Notre Dame (12-1) enters the Sugar Bowl on an 11-game losing streak since losing to Norther Illinois in Week 2. The Fighting Irish will be without their top defensive lineman, but are coming off a strong 27-17 win over Indiana in the first round of the playoff.

The Sugar Bowl will be played in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Georgia-Notre Dame game starts at 8:45 p.m. ET on Jan. 1 and will be televised on ESPN.

Georgia is 1 1/2-point favorites against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. The winner will advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
