The Georgia Bulldogs prevailed over the Florida Gators for a fourth straight time. Georgia Bulldogs needed a pair of late fourth-quarter touchdowns for the 34-20 victory after Florida tied the game at 20.
Florida was down to its third-string quarterback after quarterback DJ Lagway left the game in the second quarter due to a hamstring injury.
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and the Bulldogs failed to capitalize. Beck threw three interceptions before orchestrating a long drive to put Georgia up 27-20. Beck finished 25 of 40 for 304 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He will have to play better if Georgia wants to beat Ole Miss next week.
Georgia fans and media react to the Dawgs’ win over Florida
“Georgia rallies for a 34-20 win, but games like this will not get the Bulldogs where they hope to go,” said Georgia football media member Anthony Dasher.
“Georgia is 7-1 and have played some of the most awful half’s of football on offense since Kirby’s first season in Athens. But the Bulldogs are still have all goals ahead of them,” said UGASports.com’s Trent Smallwood.
“It was an ugly day for the Georgia offense, but the Bulldogs put together a 75-yard touchdown drive late and CJ Allen seals the deal with a pick that set the stage for another score,” said Jordan Hill of 247Sports.
“No matter what happens, I’m going to keep coming, but I know I need to get better,” said Carson Beck after the game. Beck has show resiliency, but has been fortunate that Georgia’s defense played well enough to win against both Florida and Texas.
Our favorite annual tradition in the rivalry has to be Florida fans heading home to beat the traffic.
