Georgia baseball pitching struggles as Kentucky sweeps UGA

The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team started the year 17-1 before the Kentucky Wildcats swept Georgia in its first SEC series of the season. Georgia is now 17-4. The Bulldogs allowed 37 runs in three games against the Wildcats.

First year Georgia head coach Wes Johnson was looking for the Bulldogs to get off to a better start in SEC play. Georgia was off to a great start in nonconference play, but now faces a very difficult schedule against a stacked SEC.

Georgia did not go winless over the entire week. Georgia picked up a nice nonconference win over Iowa on Tuesday. Georgia baseball’s next game is against Wofford at Foley Field in Athens, Georgia, at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 19. The Bulldogs also host Alabama in a three-game series over the weekend.

Star infielder/outfielder Charlie Condon continues to be a bright spot for the Dawgs. Condon has 13 home runs and 29 RBIs through 21 games this season. Condon and the potent Georgia offense ended the Kentucky series quieter than usual, accumulating five runs over the final two games in Lexington, Kentucky.
