George Windie faces court over alleged child abuse at abandoned Geraldton building

Police allege a child was abused at a derelict building on Fitzgerald Street, in Geraldton. (ABC Midwest & Wheatbelt: Rachael Clifford)

A man has fronted a Midwest court charged with abusing a child at a derelict building.

George Edward Albert Windie appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court this morning on two counts of indecently dealing with a child under the age of 13.

He was arrested on Wednesday.

Police told the court the 39-year-old was with another person when the alleged offence happened on March 15.

Police say the alleged offences happened at the former Batavia Motor Inn on Fitzgerald Street.

Mr Windie was not required to enter a plea to the charges and did not apply for bail.

He was remanded in custody and will reappear in court next month.

Police have called for anyone with information or footage that may assist with the investigation to come forward.
