CBBC host George Webster deserves a gold star for his performance on Strictly Come Dancing ’s Christmas show.
And the presenter cannot wait to rock around the Christmas tree with his pro partner Amy Dowden, 32.
George, 22, said: “The best present is to be on Strictly and partnered with Amy. She is a joy to dance with and so lovely.”
George made TV history last year when he became the first BBC children’s presenter with Down’s syndrome.
But the Leeds lad, who has stage and dance experience, says it does not stop him from doing anything – he just needs “some support and understanding”.
George said of Strictly: “It’s so much fun and I’m learning so many new skills.”
Amy, who was partnered with EastEnders ’ James Bye in this year’s dance competition, hopes she and George will be able to spread some festive cheer.
But not all of Amy’s Christmases have been magical.
One year, she spotted a beautifully wrapped box and thought her partner Ben Jones was going to propose. But Amy said: “I opened it up and it was a phone charger.”
Ben waited until New Year’s Eve to pop the question, however, and the couple got married earlier this year.
George is just one of the stars who will be out to impress judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.
Also waltzing on to our screens this year will be podcast star Rosie Ramsey, 36, Radio 1 DJ Rickie Haywood-Williams, 42, and Coronation Street actress Alexandra Mardell, 29. They will be joined by Gavin & Stacey’s Larry Lamb, 75, and Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts, 37.
