The closure of George's Great British Kitchen left customers turning up to a blacked-out restaurant for Father's Day celebrations.
The popular restaurant in The Light, Headrow, Leeds city centre, which has been open since 2017 is now closed. It comes after customers turned up to the venue on Sunday to find a sign reading "this restaurant is now closed for business". It has previously been rated five star, and has been seen full with customers over the years.
According to a letter accompanied with the sign, the landlord re-entered the building on Wednesday June 15 , and the lease has now been forfeited. Civil or criminal proceedings would take place against anyone trying to get inside the business, the letter from solicitors states.

The website page for the restaurant can also no longer be found. Their Facebook page, which has gained over 20,000 likes over the years, is still active but there has been no updates posted.
Due to the lack of online announcements from the restaurant, which is renowned for its fish and chips and bottomless brunches, a number of customers were unaware of the closure. And TripAdvisor reviewers said they were still able to make bookings at the restaurant after the sign had gone up in the window.
On Sunday, when many headed out to celebrate Father's Day, some headed to the Headrow restaurant to find it closed. One customer said: "Taking bookings and sending confirmation emails. Got an email this evening for Father’s Day tomorrow saying looking forward to seeing you.
"And the place is closed. Disgusting." Another customer shared their experience, and said: "Decided on a meal at George's so booked online one hour before visit. Arrived before a concert to find notice on door.
"Another couple too approached us that was booked in too. Just to warn others." Customers added that the furniture and decoration inside of the restaurant appeared to still be there as of June 19.
