George Russell demanded to know who had blocked him during practice in Barcelona after the Brit bailed out into a gravel trap in order to avoid a crash.
It happened during the second session of Friday with teams using the opportunity to gather vital data on the new track layout at the Circuit de Catalunya. The slow-speed final chicane has been removed meaning a much faster lap for everyone and a new experience for all the drivers to get used to.
But it was earlier in the lap at Turn 10 where Russell's incident took place. He was on a flying lap when he came across a slow-moving McLaren in front of him, which proved to be a roadblock.
The unhelpfully-placed car, being driven by Formula 1 rookie Oscar Piastri, forced Russell to take evasive action. He turn his steering wheel to the right to avoid a collision, even though it meant his Mercedes had to go through the gravel trap in order to get himself back onto the tarmac.
And he let his team know about his displeasure with a blast over the radio. "Who the f*** was that in the McLaren?" he demanded to know, before being promptly informed that it was the Australian who had been in the way.
Unsurprisingly, it was Max Verstappen's name at the top of the timesheets at the end of that FP2 session, though he was less than two-tenths of a second ahead of home hero Fernando Alonso. The Dutchman's advantage was much more pronounced earlier in the day as he also went fastest in FP1.
The Red Bull racer was more than three-quarters of a second clear of Sergio Perez in that sessions, with Esteban Ocon the nearest man not driving an RB19 and more than eight-tenths down.
Nyck de Vries will have been pleased to be up in fourth in that first session and there was another surprise name high up later in the day. Behind Verstappen and Alonso in FP2 was Nico Hulkenberg, who will hope his Haas can be as quick in qualifying when it matters.
The Brits didn't manage to find a lot of joy in terms of lap times on Friday. Russell finished eighth and tenth in those two sessions while Lewis Hamilton was outside the points places on both occasions. The same was true for Lando Norris and his team-mate, Russell's new nemesis Piastri.
