After limiting Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver DK Metcalf to three receptions for 29 yards last week, Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain will now be responsible for covering Pittsburgh Steelers dynamic receiver George Pickens in Week 2.
How does Pickens feel about going up against PS2 on Sunday?
“I went against Pat Surtain in college,” Pickens told media members in Pittsburgh earlier this week. “So a lot of this stuff isn’t new for me.”
Pickens was then asked what he remembers about Surtain from college.
“He’s just a good player,” Pickens said. “Just like a lot of other players in here. They’re good players, I’m a good player. It’s a lot of good players around the league.”

Surtain allowed two receptions for 21 yards when he covered Pickens in Alabama’s 41-24 win over Georgia in 2020.
Surtain praised the receiver when asked about Pickens this week.
“I think he has elite body control in the air,” Surtain said. “He can track the ball well. He has great ball skills. He’s a playmaker for sure. He’s a great player.”
Surtain certainly had a more diplomatic answer than Pickens, who seemingly downplayed the challenge. Bring on Sunday’s matchup.
