George Kruis says Saracens have learned from 2017 double failure as they prepare for Gloucester semi-final

George Kruis insists Saracens will not blow their chance to secure a trophy double as they prepare to take on Gloucester on Saturday.

Two years ago, Sarries were crowned European champions but then lost to Exeter in the Premiership play-off semi-finals.

The club are in the same position this term, having beaten Leinster to win the Champions Cup.

For England international Kruis, that defeat in Devon was one of his toughest losses.

But unlike in 2017, Sarries have had an extra week to prepare, while Kruis says his side have also learned from past failures.

“Two seasons ago, we went to Exeter in a semi-final after winning the European Cup,” he said.

“We lost and it was a big learning curve in terms of how much preparation means and how much you have got to be on it, mentally and physically.

“It was one of the tougher games I’ve had to play in and also to take as a loss. It’s not a long turnaround this time between winning, having a few pints and then gearing up.

"We weren’t as well prepared then as we could have been. But we’ve worked hard this week. We understand it’s such a big thing when it comes to winning and playing well in games like this.”
