George Hook says 'get a life' to Dara O Briain after Dublin Airport complaints

Presenter and rugby pundit George Hook has told comedian Dara O'Briain to "get a life" after complaining about his experience in Dublin Airport.

The Mock The Week host took to social media last week to slam his experience travelling through Dublin Airport, commenting on "insane queues" and labelling the airport "a mess".

Passengers travelling through Dublin Airport have been left frustrated by enormous queues over the past few months with long wait times being reported.

Tweeting a photo of the UK/EU customs check, Dara wrote: "Hey Dublin Airport, any chance you could finally get these working? It might take the pressure off the ONE customs officer manning the EU/UK desk today.

"Honestly the place just seems astonished to find planes arriving."

Clearly unimpressed with Dara's complaining, George Hook said: "Daire O’Brien tweeting complaints about Dublin Airport. He should get a life. Hundreds of hard-working individuals are doing their best under difficult circumstances and retaining their good humour."

This kicked off a spat between the two, with Dara responding to George: "Hi George. Firstly it’s Dara Ó Briain, not Daire o Brien. And my criticisms are of the organisation, not the staff, who are dealing brilliantly with the hand they have been dealt by management. Other than that, lovely to hear from you, as ever."

The exchange took a somewhat humorous turn with George again spelling Dara's name incorrectly when he wrote: "I did of course mean @daireobriain the comedian and scientist in relation to his criticism of Dublin Airport."

Dara responded: "Still haven’t got my name right. Have a third go."

When asked about the reported delays at the airport, Graeme McQueen, daa Media Relations Manager told Dublin Live: "It's another busy Sunday at Dublin Airport, but queues are moving well at security screening with pass-through times this afternoon currently under 30 minutes in both terminals.

"We thank passengers for continuing to work with us as we move further into the busy summer season and remind anyone travelling in the days and weeks ahead to arrive at the airport in plenty of time ahead of their flight.

"Our recommendation remains to arrive at the airport up to two and a half hours before a short-haul flight and up to three and a half hours prior to a long-haul flight. Where possible, passengers should also look to check-in online in advance of travelling to the airport."
