George Bowie offering Glaswegians the chance to have GBX set in their living room

George Bowie has teamed up with Scots charity The Catherine McEwan Foundation to offer a unique raffle prize… himself and partner-in-mischief Sparkos.

George is constantly asked to DJ at weddings, birthdays and private parties, but as a rule doesn’t accept as he’s simply too busy between radio shows, club gigs, festivals and his family.

But he has broken his self-imposed rule as a one-off to help raise money for a cause very close to his heart – and you can win a set each from GBX cohorts George and Sparkos at your house, party, wedding or any private event for just a tenner.

George said: “Sparkos and I will come along to your event, whatever that is, wedding, birthday party, works party, house party, whatever, and put on a show. We'll DJ for an hour each and have a big massive GBX party with all the anthems. It really will be something quite special.

“I get asked at least five or six times a day to DJ at private gigs but I don't have the time. I know if I go to my Facebook or Twitter DM's right now it'll full of requests to DJ at weddings, 21st, 30th, 40th parties, you name it.

“I don't have the time, I would love to but I'm live on the radio every Friday and Saturday night till 10 and then DJing in a club.

“I also have a wife and kids who like to see me from time to time so something has got to give.

“This is an opportunity for me to take a night off and spend it with you at your event – which I really want to do because this is a brilliant charity.”

And it doesn’t matter whether your event is a glittering wedding in a castle or a party in yer maw’s garden – George and Sparkos will be there.

Geo said: “If you're the winner I will DJ in your garden shed, it doesn't matter to me, I'll play anywhere – you’re the winner so you provide the venue and I will play for you. I'm guessing it won't be a garden shed but you never know. Everyone has a chance here and if you don't win, at least you can say you made a donation to fabulous cause and helped some others.”

George has supported and worked with The Catherine McEwan Foundation throughout their 20-year history.

The charity was set up by Glaswegian Derek McEwan in honour of his late mum Catherine, to help Scots afflicted with Crohn’s Colitis and IBD.

The group works with sufferers of all ages, funding research, creating pioneering treatments and initiatives, providing vital information and even creating jobs to help care for patients and their families, as well as providing much-needed connections with other people in similar situations.

They have auctioned off DJ sets from George and other stars like Joe Deacon at their legendary Red Hot Ball in the past, but this time wanted to give people the chance to have a genuine superstar DJ play at their party.

George said: “I love working with this charity. They've been doing incredible work for the past 20 years and I've always been happy to do anything I can for them. I have colleagues and friends who suffer from Crohn's and it's such a horrible thing.

“To be honest before this Foundation I think a lot of people suffered in silence and wouldn't talk about it but now the awareness that this foundation has raised, along with obviously vital funds, has been incredible, absolutely incredible. Who wouldn't want to help?

“I've been friends with Derek and his wife Julie for many years so I've always said if you need anything just ask. We've done a few auctions for GBX parties for them over the years but this time we thought let's do something everyone can get involved in, not just the highest bidder.

“Everyone who buys a ticket has a chance of winning, so please think about joining in if you’d like Sparkos and I to show up at your bash and bang out the GBX anthems!”

George will draw the winner live on Facebook from all entries on Monday March 28. DJ and sound equipment will be provided by The Catherine McEwan Foundation.
