George Bowie forced to DJ at headline gig wearing wife's jeans after trouser mishap

George Bowie was left with no option but to DJ his headline gig while wearing a pair of jeans that belonged to his wife.

The much-loved Clyde 1 presenter headed to Benbecula yesterday to DJ at Eilean Dorcha Festival when disaster struck. As he was in a mad dash at the airport, he ended up ripping his trousers.

Not thinking it was much of a problem as he could change into something else he packed, he then discovered he actually forgot to bring any kind of other bottoms entirely. Taking to Instagram to share his mishap, George posted a picture of the busted joggers.

Speaking to the Record, George said: "I had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction in the airport and managed to rip my joggies. I thought it's fine because I'll just change when I get off the plane but when I went into get them, I discovered that I had left my trousers sitting on the bed, I didn't put them in my holdall!

"I then realised that we were here for four days so I began to panic. When we got to the hotel, I went to ask at reception where the nearest clothes shop was and they burst out laughing! They said there weren't any except one 'thrift shop', I was like, 'Thrift Shop? Isn't that a Macklemore song?'.

"It didn't matter anyway as even that was closed, so I really didn't know what I was going to do! I had no option but to wear a pair of Ellene's ripped jeans."

The Bits and Pieces hitmaker decided to put Ellene's ripped jeans over his own ripped joggers to go on stage for his gig. And he even posted snaps on his Instagram.

Speaking about his new fashion ensemble, George said: "I mean they are a bit tight but you know the jeans and the joggers actually compliment each other a bit, and because I mentioned it on social media everyone kept coming up to me and talking about the jeans - I should have just kept my mouth shut.

"Who says it's unacceptable to wear your wife's clothes in public?"

On his Instagram, his followers were in stitches of laughter at his fashion choices. One wrote: "That’s brilliant! Hope the show went well." Another joked: "She wears the troosers anyway geo."

Another said: "Still doesn’t make you the boss mate!" And EDF festival bosses even commented: "Thanks for a brilliant night guys! You can come back to EDF anytime!!"

And wearing his wife's trousers didn't stop him having a great time as the DJ then shared footage of the crowd loving his set. George said it was absolutely brilliant. He said: "It's been absolutely amazing here! We've had a great time so far and we've still got the whole weekend to go! Last night was brilliant, everyone was just loving it, it was one of the best!"

This isn't the first time George has had a bottom-half blunder whilst on holiday. Back in August last year, the radio star called out fashion retailer Zara after saying he was treated like a criminal after he returned a pair of boxer shorts because they still had a security tag on them.

George had bought the boxers and hadn't realised staff had left the tag on them until he'd got back to his hotel. George who called the ensuing drama 'Pantygate', told his fans: "Bought a pair of boxer shorts out of Zara in Brighton and they left the tag on them.

"So I took them back with the receipt and now they're away to check the CCTV. Why does everyone in England think if you're Scottish you're a criminal?"

George updated his Twitter: "They just came back to confirm I did buy them. "No apology for their incompetence or the fact I took an hour out my day to walk back in but at least it turns out I didn't scam them for 7 quid. What a relief. #pantygate."

We mentioned to George that it always seems that he has bottom-half drama when he leaves town, and he laughed: "I think it's a sign that I should just never leave Glasgow!"
