George at Asda shoppers desperate for £14 midi dress that sold out online 'in record time'

Mums and daughters shopping at George at Asda are hoping to find a set of twinning Union Flag outfits after they sold out online ‘in record time’ according to the retailer.

The supermarket fashion brand released a set of twin dresses for parents and children to wear over the Jubilee weekend. The garments feature a floral Union Flag print and come in a midi length for adults and a matching children’s dress in ages 12 months to 14 years.

But the chain didn't know how popular they would become. They proved sought-after ahead of the long bank holiday weekend, with shoppers complaining on Instagram about them being sold out online already!

George at Asda posted a picture of the dresses to its 727k followers this week and said: “Twin in dresses fit for Queens. Prices from £8!” But frustrated shoppers commented about being unable to get hold of them.

Sarah_b104 said: “I missed this! Gutted”. Clarke.nicky added: “Pointless out of stock”. And hayley.worthington added: “Every single size out of stock. So this is a pointless post isn’t it!”

Responding in the comments in the Liverpool Echo, George at Asda offered an explanation and said: “Sorry folks, you loved the dress so much it sold out in record time!! The team are working hard to get more sizes available online. It may be worth checking in your local ASDA store”.

Many people loved the look of the dresses, while others were quick to tag friends and suggest they bought the dresses for Jubilee parties. Nylah18 posted two heart eye emojis and said: “how cuteee”. And Wongfamilytravels added: “Ooh I love me some matching Mummy and daughter outfits!!”
