A number of Geordie Shore stars seized the opportunity to catch some rays as they joined crowds of others in Tynemouth on Tuesday as temperature soared to the mid to late 30s by the coast.
While some sceptics played down the extreme weather as 'just summer,' the thermometer didn't lie as figures climbed to a record breaking 38 degrees on Tyneside. And, those lucky enough to not be at work took full advantage of the region being bathed in scorching hot conditions by heading out for the way.
The coast offered slightly less intense heat than inland, with Tynemouth pulling in crowds of sun seekers before the clock had even struck mid-day, with scenes of packed beaches echoed elsewhere around the North East at other locations like South Shields and Roker.
Geordie Shore stars Abbie Holborn, Nathan Henry, James Tindale and Marty McKenna, were among those who flocked to Tynemouth, grabbing some obligatory seaside chips to tuck into and sunbathing and posing on the sand as the sun beat down from the sky.

Nathan posted a series of pictures of him walking out of the sea on his Instagram, with it look like he was abroad, rather than just a few miles from Newcastle city centre. He captioned them: " Today was hot but I’m hotter."
Nathan and Abbie were filmed pouring curry sauce over a box of chips by James and, sharing the video on her Instagram story, Abbie wrote: "Absolute gannets."
All four of the Geordie Shore sun worshippers are set to appear in the MTV show's forthcoming reunion series. The show turned 10 last year, but the Covid pandemic threw a massive spanner in the works of producers' plans to mark the occasion with a cast trip abroad.
However, with restrictions now a thing of the past, many of the long-running programme's stars recently headed to Portugal to film, with others heading to Ibiza for Holly Hagan's wedding and nearly everyone whose ever been in the show heading to a massive reunion party in Newcastle, where Charlotte Crosby broke news of her pregnancy.
