Fans of Genshin Impact can hardly wait: The release of update 3.0 for the action RPG from China is just around the corner – and this patch is going to be massive, because it has a brand new region in the form of Sumeru, continues the main storyline, brings the Dendro element into the game, and much more. So, exactly how much longer will you have to wait for this?
Genshin Impact 3.0 Release Date
Version 3.0 for Genshin Impact will be released on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. As usual, the server downtime will start at 12:00 a.m. CEST and should last until around 5:00 a.m. CEST.
Genshin Impact 3.0 Duration
Normally, each game version of Genshin Impact lasts for six weeks, but with the release of update 3.0, things change a bit. Once 3.0 is out, it’ll only be five weeks until the release of patch 3.1. The developer wants to maintain this pace for the following updates, so the density of fresh content for the rest of the year should be even higher than it already has been in the past.
This also means that the banners awaiting you will be shorter from version 3.0 onwards, giving you a bit less time to pull the character you want.
This is the schedule for the remainder of 2022:
- Update 3.0 – August 24 to September 27.
- Update 3.1 – September 28 to November 1.
- Update 3.2 – November 2 to December 6.
- Update 3.3 – from December 7.
Whether Hoyoverse will continue this tighter schedule into 2023 is currently unclear. The developers explained during their recent livestream for update 3.0 that the main storyline in Sumeru spans versions 3.0 to 3.2. Therefore it’s possible that the schedule will ease up again starting with patch 3.3. One thing is for sure: Genshin Impact won’t bore anyone for the lack of fresh content any time soon.
