It’s been a while since Genshin Impact revisited Mondstadt. The Traveler arrived in Sumeru just as quickly as the Genshin Impact 2022 anniversary crept up on longtime players. Mika, who fans dubbed the Len Kagamine of Genshin Impact, is the newest character from Mondstadt since Eula. She debuted about five months before the 2021 Genshin Impact anniversary. Now, Mika is coming about two years after her. He first appeared as a guest character in the “Of Ballads and Brews” event but has only recently been announced as a playable character.
Here’s everything we know so far about Varka’s errand boy, Mika.
When will Mika come to Genshin Impact?
Mika is expected to launch with Dehya the Flame Mane in Genshin Impact 3.5. So far, it’s unclear whether he will run on her banner or in the later half of the update. If he runs with her in the first half, then he will launch on March 1, 2023. At the very least, he’s coming in March 2023.
What are Mika’s Elemental Skill and Burst?
Genshin leaker Ubatcha reported that Mika was Cryo polearm user months ago. His official art shows him holding a book (typical of catalyst users), but current leaks still insist that this is the case.
Some players are already disappointed, considering they were hoping he would be the game’s first Cryo catalyst or male Cryo 5-star. It’s extra tough because Rosaria already exists as a viable 4-star polearm character. So far, he looks like a Cryo healer and Physical DPS support character. His healing is HP-dependent similar to Diona. Fans predict that his Physical DMG buff will make him an ideal teammate for Eula, who is a Cryo Physical DPS.
As always, these details are subject to change. All that’s nailed down so far is Mika’s position in the Knights and his appearance.
Here are the details about his Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst, and passives, courtesy of Niana (via Save Your Primos).
Starfrost Swirl (Elemental Skill)
Mika uses his crossbow to attack, granting nearby active characters in your party Soulwind, which increases their ATK SPD. Its effects differ if Tapped or Held.
- Tap — Fires a Flowfrost Arrow that can pierce though opponents, dealing Cryo DMG to enemies it comes into contact with.
- Hold — Goes into Aiming Mode, locking on to an opponent and firing a Rimestar Flare at them, dealing Cryo DMG. When the Rimestar Flare hits, it will rise before exploding, launching Rimestar Shards into a maximum of 3 other opponents, dealing Cryo DMG.
Skyfeather Song (Elemental Burst)
Spurs his teammates on with the recited prayers of the knightly order, regenerating HP for all nearby party members. This healing is based on Mika's Max HP, and will grant them the Eagleplume state.
Eagleplume
When the Normal Attacks of characters affected by Eagleplume hit an opponent, Mika will help them regenerate HP based on his Max HP.
Characters affected by this type of state can only regenerate HP in this way once per short interval of time.
All Mika passive abilities
Rapid-Fire Suppression (Ascension Passive)
The Soulwind state caused by Starfrost Swirl (Elemental Skill) will grant characters the Detector effect under the following circumstances and in the following ways, increasing their Physical DMG by 10 percent.
- If the Flowfrost Arrow hits more than one opponent, each additional opponent hit will generate 1 Detector stack.
- Each opponent hit by Rimestar Shards will generate 1 Detector stack. The Soulwind state can have a maximum of 3 Detector stacks, and if Starfrost Swirl (Elemental Skill) is activated again during this duration, the pre-existing Soulwind state and all its Detector stacks will be cleared.
Geomorphological Mapping (Ascension Passive)
When a character simultaneously affected by Skyfeather Song (Elemental Burst)'s Eagleplume and Starfrost Swirl Elemental Skill)'s Soulwind scores a CRIT Hit with their attacks, Soulwind will grant them 1 stack of Detector from Rapid-Fire Suppression. During a single instance of Eagleplume, 1 Detector stack can be gained in this manner.Additionally, the maximum number of stacks that can be gained through Soulwind alone is increased by 1. Requires Rapid-Fire Suppression to be unlocked first.
Demarcation (Exploration Skill)
Displays the location of nearby resources unique to Mondstadt on the mini-map.
What are Mika’s constellations?
Niana also included information in their graphic about Mika’s constellations. Note that these are subject to change before release.
- Level 1: Contingency Factor- The Soulwind state of Starfrost Swirl (Elemental Skill) can decrease the healing interval between instances caused by Skyfeather Song (Elemental Burst)'s Eagleplume state. This decrease percentage is equal to the ATK SPD increase provided by Soulwind.
- Level 2: Chaperone’s Ingress - When Starfrost Swirl (Elemental Skill)'s Flowfrost Arrow first hits an opponent, or its Rimestar Flare hits opponents, 1 Detector stack from Passive Talent Rapid-Fire Suppression will be generated.
- Level 3: Reconnaissance Veteran - Increases the level of Skyfeather Song (Elemental Burst) by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
- Level 4: Sunfrost Encomium - When Mika's own Skyfeather Song's Eagleplume (Elemental Burst) state heal other party members, this will restore 3 Energy to Mika. This form of Energy restoration can occur 5 times during the Eagleplume state created by 1 use of Skyfeather Song.
- Level 5: Signal Arrow - Increases the level of Starfrost Swirl (Elemental Skill) by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
- Level 6: Companion’s Counsel - The maximum number of Detector stacks that Starfrost Swirl (Elemental Skill)'s Soulwind can gain is increased by 1. You need to have unlocked the Passive Talent Rapid-Fire Suppression first. Additionally, characters affected by Soulwind will deal 60 percent more Physical CRIT DMG.
What is Mika’s backstory?
Mika is a reconnaissance surveyor in the Knights of Favonius. In the “Of Ballad and Brews” event, he appears as a messenger for Grand Master Varya to the Knights. He and Eula used to be part of the same team in the Reconnaissance Company, but he ended up being reassigned. As per Varka, he recruited Mika into the expedition team so that the boy could hone his combat skills and to “deal with all the odd errands.”
