The Balladeer, Scaramouche, is one of the Fatui Harbingers in Genshin Impact. This maniacal foe feels that he’s been discarded and neglected. However, his own lust for power and disdain for humanity led him down a dark path. Soon, you’ll have to prevent his ascension to godhood as part of the “Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises” quest.
Balladeer Scaramouche: The Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom
Balladeer Scaramouche is also known as Genshin Impact’s Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom. That is, “Scaramouche” is what he used to go by, but “Balladeer” is also his Fatui codename. As for “Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom,” that’s technically the construct that you’ll face.
Your first encounter as part of the Archon Quest is somewhat scripted. There’s a cinematic that triggers a few seconds into the second phase of the fight. After that, you’ll follow through with the mechanics normally.
Defeating Scaramouche during the quest will unlock the Joururi Workshop domain. You can then engage him as a boss with weekly drops.
General Tactics
Neo Akasha Terminal – The Neo Akasha Terminal (i.e., floating rabbit bot) can be powered up when you grab the energy blocks left behind by the boss. When fully charged, you can unlock additional functions.
Multi-elemental – The boss uses almost every element in the game.
First Phase
Scaramouche will be at the edge of the arena, so you’re mostly moving sideways to avoid his abilities. You’ll also notice several plates on the floor. If the Neo Akasha Terminal is charged, you can activate these effects. For instance, Pyro and Cryo cause the opposing elemental trail on the ground to dissipate. Meanwhile, activating the two Electro matrices can stun the boss temporarily.
We suggest just burning through the boss at this stage. He can be damaged easily due to his size, and his attacks are fairly slow.
Second Phase
You’ll fight a fully mechanized version of your opponent. This Gundam-esque mech can rush your position, call down artillery bombardments, and blast you with an array of lasers. The Balladeer is also shielded, so you won’t be able to chip away at its health that quickly.
The key here is to fully charge the Neo Akasha Terminal once more. If you’re able to do that, press and hold the corresponding button. You can then aim and shoot a green projectile that damages its shield.
The first time this occurs, your foe will do a casting animation to call on a devastating bombardment. Once again, charge your floating drone and shoot that projectile. With the shield broken, it’ll get stunned for roughly 20 seconds.
For this DPS phase, you can grapple to reach a higher position (i.e., its chest/head). This will let you unleash your bursts in quick succession. Moreover, if you’re doing this encounter in co-op mode with other players, everyone’s got their own floating rabbit bot. That means more projectiles are being fired to drop that shield without issues.
In any case, defeating the Balladeer Scaramouche in Genshin Impact nets you high-end materials such as the Puppet Strings, Mirror of Mushin, and Daka’s Bell. Likewise, you can obtain Vajrada Amethyst, Vayuda Turquoise, and Varanada Lazurite gems.
