Genshin Impact will celebrate its second anniversary during update 3.1, which will be released on Sept. 28, 2022. In the preview livestream for this release, Hoyoverse sent fans into ecstasy with numerous announcements – this is what you need to know.
Genshin Impact anime series by Ufotable
For a long time, players have longed for an anime series about the world of Teyvat – a wish that is now being fulfilled. Hoyoverse announced a long-term partnership with Japanese animation studio Ufotable. A teaser for the project shows beautifully animated landscapes from the game world and finally the two protagonists Aether and Lumine looking down on the world hand in hand.
Ufotable is not only known for the incredible visuals of its series, but has a lot of experience with adapting games: Its adaptations of the Fate games are some of the most visually impressive anime shows out there.
There are no details on the release date or the plot yet.
Genius Invokation TCG as a permanent mode
We’ve already reported in detail about the leaks regarding the planned TCG mode, and now Hoyoverse has confirmed all this information. The in-game trading card game, Genius Invokation, is coming to Genshin Impact as a permanent game mode, giving you brand new ways to interact with the game’s characters.
The developer kept mum about an exact release date, but has already briefly shown gameplay, which suggests that we might get our hands on it this year.
Dottore and Scaramouche enter the fray
Update 3.1 not only opens up the western half of Sumeru, a gigantic desert with the remains of a technologically advanced civilization but continues the main story. Act III Dreams, Emptiness, Deception, and IV King Deshret and the Three Magi introduce machinations by two of the Fatui Harbingers: Scaramouche, last encountered in Inazuma, who now possesses the divine gnosis of Raiden Shogun, and Dottore, who advances his own plans.
It seems that players no longer just have to get to the bottom of the Academy’s machinations and deal with the followers of the fallen god Deshret – the Harbingers’ plans are also underway.
The vast desert area has all sorts of new enemies, animals, materials, and two bosses to offer. New additions to the character roster include Cyno, Candace, and Nilou. Venti and Albedo get reruns in the version’s banners.
Birthday celebration with events and gifts
Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma all host in-game events to celebrate Genshin Impact’s second birthday, so Sumeru has to share its time in the spotlight again. However, thanks to a story quest with Nilou and other events, the new region doesn’t miss out at all. Story content is also available for the starting area of the game with Mondstadt’s Weinlesefest (a festival to celebrate a year’s vintage) bringing back characters like Razor, Bennett, and Klee.
In this context, Hoyoverse is also hosting a login event where you can secure up to 20 wishes to pull for characters. Exciting times are ahead for fans of the game!
