Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith is going through a rough patch right now. The 2022 Pro Bowler has hardly looked the part this season, as he only has nine touchdowns against seven interceptions. Many of his turnovers have come in the last few weeks, and they are starting to stack up – including two more against the Ravens last week.
The problem with some of them has been the fact Smith appears to be trying to force the ball when he does not have to do so. One such interception was the case against the Cardinals in the red zone when he could have simply thrown the ball away.
Fortunately, Smith seems to be recognizing the same thing and is focusing his efforts on reducing such errors.

Smith says he thinks he can make every throw, that he needs to be OK with incomplete passes and punts, stop trying to make plays that aren't there.

Smith was excellent at taking care of the football last season. But so far in 2023, he has been far more loose than anyone – let alone him, or head coach Pete Carroll – would like to see.
A prime opportunity to get back on track exists on Sunday against a depleted Washington Commanders defense that sold off a pair of quality defensive linemen at the trade deadline. Smith needs a decent game to regain the 12th Man’s confidence in him.
