Gennaro Gattuso could be set for a sensational move to English football as reports in Italy say Leicester are eyeing him as a potential option.
The Foxes have struggled under Brendan Rodgers this season and sit tenth in the Premier League table.
The former Celtic boss is under increasing pressure after their 4-1 defeat to Championship side Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup and reports are swirling that he could be sacked if things don't pick up in the weeks ahead.
A number of names have emerged as potential replacements with everyone from Brighton's Graham Potter to PSG's Mauricio Pochettino coming into the bookies' reckoning.
But Italian outlet Calcio Mercato have thrown a curveball into the mix as they say Gattuso is being eyed as a potential candidate.
A former Rangers and AC Milan midfielder known for his fiery and often controversial personality, Gattuso has been out of work since leaving Napoli last year.
He had an agreement in place to take over at Fiorentina but that was mutually ended before his contract could even begin - reportedly because of disagreements over the transfer policy.
He's represented by Jorge Mendes and the Italian outlet say that the agent's "influence" over English football helps Gattuso's case for the Foxes' top job.
However it does remain to be seen just how tenuous Rodgers' position is after guiding Leicester to fifth place in the Premier League and an FA Cup last season.
Calcio Mercato also note that he is just one of the many options they would likely have on the table.
Gattuso was reportedly on Tottenham's radar in the summer but they went with Nuno Espirito Santo - who has since been replaced by Antonio Conte - instead.
44-year-old Gattuso also managed AC Milan between 2017 and 2019 before a two-year stint at Napoli.
