'Generous' man knocked down and killed by car leaves 'unfillable hole in family'

A devastated family paid tribute to their "generous" and "happy" son who died after being hit by a car.

Mark Lawrence, from Warrington, was hit by a car as he walked down Chester Road, at the junction of Centre Park link road in the town at 1.50pm on Sunday, October 23. He was hit by a Volvo XC90 and was treated in hospital for his injuries.

The 27-year-old died later the same day and his family are being supported by specialist officers. The driver of the car, a 32-year-old man from Runcorn, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Mark's devastated parents and brother described him as "generous" and "happy" in a tribute.

They said: "The tragic loss of Mark so early in his life is devastating and has left an unfillable hole in our family; it is unfair that such a happy, generous, and active young man has been lost.

“Mark’s loss will be felt by so many beyond his immediate family, who loved and respected him, including his grandparents, uncles, aunties and cousins in both England and the Philippines and countless friends from England and around the world who have supported his family through this difficult time.”

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has captured footage that may be relevant to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cheshire Police via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/police-forces/cheshire-constabulary/areas/cheshire/about-us/about-us/provide-more-information-about-an-appeal/ quoting IML 1379365 or call 101.
