Previous cast members with ties to fame have included Tommy Fury, Dani Dyer and Sophie Piper.
This year’s Islander with a famous family member is Gemma Owen, who is the daughter of football legend Michael Owen.
Gemma, 19, made her first appearance in the villa on last night’s episode of Love Island, and shocked viewers by kissing 27-year-old Italian hunk Davide Sanclimenti.
As the young bombshell makes headlines after her first day on the show, we’ve taken a look at her family life outside the villa, including her famous dad and lesser-known siblings.
Who is Gemma Owen’s dad?
Gemma Owen’s dad is former professional football player Michael Owen.
Owen has a vastly successful footballing career, playing as a striker for the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Manchester United.
Since retiring from football in 2013, Owen has gone on to become a commentator, although his career as a pundit hasn’t been quite as successful.
While Michael wasn’t over the moon to hear that his young daughter would be going on Love Island, he was still supportive.
Gemma said: “I still wouldn’t say that my dad is buzzing about me doing Love Island.
“He’s very supportive in whatever I decide to do – he didn’t have a massive tantrum or anything like that.”
Who is Gemma Owen's mum?
Gemma Owen's mum is Louise Bonsall, who is the childhood sweetheart of Gemma's dad Michael.
Gemma's parents met in school and welcomed Gemma into the world in 2003, before getting engaged a year later.
Louise has a love for horses, and it looks like her daughter Gemma has followed in her footsteps with her international dressage riding career.
Louise started riding horses when she was just seven, but a year after Gemma's birth she had a horrific horse-riding accident.
She fell from her horse and spent three weeks in hospital after breaking her back in two places and her hip and pelvis in five places.
Despite the awful accident, the family all still share a love of horses.
Who are Gemma Owen’s siblings?
Gemma Owen might now be the most famous of Michael Owen’s children after her reality TV debut, but the former footballer also has three other children.
Gemma is the oldest of Michael’s children but her lesser-known siblings include her brother, James Michael Owen, and her two sisters, Emily May Owen and Jessica Owen.
Gemma’s 16-year-old brother James has a rare eye condition called Stargardt disease.
In an interview with The Times, Michael Owen opened up about his son’s condition as he explained that his son will never follow in his footsteps.
He said: “He will never be a footballer. My son’s got an eye condition. I’ve never said this. I don’t want a big headline.
“Clinically, he’s blind. He’s got Stargardt disease, a degeneration of his retina.
“I used to go and watch him and bollock him about his positioning. He can’t see the ball until it’s five yards away.
“As much as every father wants their son to play, it is almost a relief to me.”
Gemma’s younger sister Emily is 14, while Jessica is the youngest of the Owen siblings at 12 years-old.
The siblings are often pictured together at family outings as Gemma shares a close relationship with them.
