Gemma Collins shares secret family heartache as she plans muted Christmas

Gemma Collins revealed she is having a muted Christmas this year due to a secret family illness.

The 41-year-old TV personality said her dad Alan's twin brother is currently in the hospital and said she 'prays' for him all the time.

She added that it has reached the 'time of year' where people think about their passed loved ones.

"It's always at this time of the year that we remember our passed ones, sadly my dad's twin brother is in hospital at the minute and he's massively in our thoughts," Gemma explained on her Gemma Collins podcast.

"It's just very upsetting, it's more upsetting at this time at Christmas when you have a loved one in hospital but you just keep sending them your prayers and you call upon your angels."

The reality star has shared glimpses at her festive traditions and recently revealed she transformed her best pal's house into a winter wonderland.

Her home is a little different as she only set up a tree to 'look like the alps' as she recently returned from Austria.

According to the star, she hasn't put any baubles on the tree.

Meanwhile, the GC previously opened up about her battle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after she almost lost her dad to Covid during the pandemic.

Her life had been thrown into 'hell' after her father became gravely ill after being struck down with Covid-19 during the pandemic.

The reality TV icon also revealed that her bank accounts were frozen during the incredibly tough period, just as her house sale was about to go through.

During an honest Instagram Live with her close pal and small business owner friend, Andie, the TV star opened up about the awful situation.

"This happened to me two years ago. The shock, the embarrassment, I couldn't sleep, I felt sick, I felt like I was dodgy, like ‘am I a criminal," Gemma explained as she spoke to Andie.

"You know what, the guy at the end of the phone, I was so distressed, I was crying on the phone, I was saying, I’m going to lose my house, I’m going to lose my house. They are reading from a script, no emotion, telling you, ‘go into the branch.’

"I couldn’t see my dad in the hospital. I went into the branch and the lady was very nice, I started crying in the bank. They didn’t care."

She added: "I felt broken, I felt helpless, I felt despair. I just thought I cannot believe this is still going on."
