In her latest Instagram post, Gemma shared her battle with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and an underactive thyroid.

Polycystic ovaries contain a large number of harmless follicles that are up to 8mm in size.

Symptoms include irregular periods or no periods at all, difficulty getting pregnant as a result of irregular ovulation or failure to ovulate, excessive hair growth, weight gain, thinning hair and hair loss from the head and oily skin or acne.

An underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) is where your thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones.

Common signs of underactive thyroid are tiredness, weight gain and feeling depressed.

Speaking about her health turmoil, Gemma said: "After two hours walking and loving life I didn’t realise the only way back up was 172 steps!!!!

"There was no way out !!! Reaching my fitness goals feels great but there’s always that moment when you do feel like your going to die, well done @rami_hawash_ for keeping me going.

"Having PCOS and UNDER ACTIVE THYROID I’m always up against it !!!! People don’t realise or sympathise every day is a struggle with these two conditions but I keep going and I’m very proud of myself cause it’s really exhausting and a constant battle."
