Reality TV star Gemma Collins was set to perform in Cardiff later in 2022 however has had to pull out of the Chicago tour due to injury. An ongoing knee issue that Gemma has described as "next level" means that Gemma will not be able to take up her role as Mamma Morton in the famous musical.
Gemma was meant to take over from singer Shelia Ferguson but a nasty knee injury, which she first gained while appearing on the 2019 series of Dancing on Ice, has prevented her appearance. The injury has now flared up again and forced her to quit the show.
A spokesperson for Chicago also confirmed the news to The Evening Standard, who reported: “Gemma Collins’ management has informed the producers of Chicago she will no longer be appearing in the UK Tour of the show due to a knee injury. The Producers of Chicago wish Gemma all the best for the future." It hasn't been confirmed who will replace Gemma in the Cardiff run.

An insider source has told The Sun that Gemma was "inconsolable" and has been in "floods of tears". The star has been sharing images of her injury on her social media where she has been using a Cryostimulation device to help with the pain.
She said: “Early morning session for my knee, I can’t describe the pain you guys.” It was announced in March 2022 that Gemma would be playing Mamma Morton and she was set to appear in the Cardiff New Theatre every night from Monday, June, 20 to Saturday, June, 25.
