Gemma Collins has set her sights on joining the women’s England football team and predicts that the squad will be victorious at the Euro 2022.
The Lionesses are facing Germany later today at Wembley stadium for the women’s final which will see the winner become Euro champions.
While the team has the full support of fans up and down the nation, one footy follower screaming particularly loudly is The GC.
Speaking to The Mirror from her home in Essex, Gemma screamed down the line as she praised The Lionesses for their success on the pitch.
She said: “I have caught up on the football while watering my plants in the garden, I’ve been watching it through the bi-fold doors.”
Singing the praises of the England squad, she said: “I’m Lionesses all the way, you go girls.
“I think they’ve done an amazing job and I’m all for the Lionesses.”
Placing her bets, Gemma reckons The Lionesses will be victorious later today, taking home the desirable shiny silverware.
“I predict they’re going to win it,” she said. “They will win it for our country. Men will be no more, it’s all about the women,” she added while cheering down the phone.
Speaking of the women’s team reaching the Euro 2022 final, Gemma discussed how it felt, from one successful woman to a large group of others.
“It means absolutely everything,” she said. “Us women back in the day, the suffragettes, we have been fighting for our rights for a long time.
“You know what, The Lionesses reaching the final just gives a nod to how wonderful women are.”
The team are yet to win a World Cup or European Championship title, and the last time they were in a major final was in 2009 when they lost to Germany in the Euros.
Following their semi-final triumph, it’s clear to see just how much the win would mean to the team who hope “the whole country is proud”.
Speaking before the weekend, head coach Sarina Wiegman said: “We want to inspire the nation and I think that's what we're doing.
“We want to make a difference, so we hope that we got everyone so enthusiastic and that at the end the whole country is proud of us and that even more girls and boys will start playing football.”
That inspiration has clearly rubbed off on Gemma who has even offered herself up to join The Lionesses in a bid to win the Euro 2022 trophy.
“If they need another team player, I’m there,” she told The Mirror.
