Gemma Collins meets King Charles but fans say he met the 'real Queen'

Gemma Collins met King Charles and Queen Camilla today at a conservation event where they spoke about their passion for protecting animals. But fans of the reality TV star were quick to point out that it was the Royal Family who actually got to meet the "real Queen".

The trio met at the Animal Ball, a gala event which supports the Elephant Family. The charity was founded by Queen Camilla’s late brother Mark Shand. The event was held on what would have been Mr Shand's 72nd birthday.

Taking to Instagram, Gemma said: "The king and queen's continual work to help the animals is just what we need on planet Earth. He really is KING of the PLANET in my eyes and the beautiful QUEEN'S late brother Mark Shand leaves such a legacy for us to continually remember that we must co-exist. We really must keep speaking up for the animals.

"The king and queen are so charming funny warm and I actually found them very down to earth. I said to the king you really are KING OF THE PLANET. He laughed. He has such a great sense of humour. Anyone who loves animals and helps them is a very good human being.

"It was a moment I will never forget we laughed and let this be a message for our future generations!!! That we must take the lead from our King and Queen about respecting our PLANET."

Despite posting about the event on Instagram, Gemma urged youngsters to get off the social media platform and do more conservation work. She said: “All the youngsters need to know that if we don’t start looking after our animals and stopping this abhorrent cruelty that is going on, on a daily basis, they will not be able show their children animals in the future and they (the animals) will become extinct.

"Come off of Instagram. Let’s get connected with the animals and let’s all co-exist and save these beautiful creatures that give us so much enjoyment.”

Fans on Instagram were quick to make jokes about her encounter with the royals and pointed out the similarity with her own nickname, Queen GC. Enyamcb said: "It looks like the royal majesty and his queen met the real QUEEN GC."

Kirkmason_ said: "His royal majesty, the queen and Camilla." Joshuahaith agreed adding: "The queen met Camilla."

Joanneboyce27 said: "Love this @gemmacollins. I’m sure he was charmed by the GC."

Noelpmcgrath2 suggested that Gemma could eventually be given a new title. He said: "Fantastic to Gemma doing this kind of thing. Keep it up and we could be saying Dame Gemma."
