Gemma Collins' awkward interaction with King Charles when meeting at Animal Ball

TV reality star Gemma Collins endured an awkward interaction with King Charles as she met the monarch at the Animal Ball on Wednesday.

The conservation charity event was held at Lancaster House on what marked the 20th anniversary of wildlife conservation charity Elephant Family, which was founded by Queen Camilla's late brother Mark Shand in 2003.

Charles and Camilla seemed in good spirits at the celebration of indigenous communities, which was hosted by the Elephant Family in partnership with the British Asian Trust.

The royal couple were snapped with matching white masquerade masks of two entwining Indian elephants, where the trunks looped back on itself to create the masterpieces.

Many famous faces were in attendance in the gardens of Lancaster House, with several also wearing the extravagant masks for the Animal Ball. The likes of Christian Louboutin, Kristin Scott Thomas, Sir Brian May, his wife Anita Dobson, Donna Air and Keely Hawes joined the royal couple for the glitzy event.

Another famous name was former The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma, who shone in an eye-catching red and white Valentino gown which was coupled with a unique headpiece that featured two bejewelled cherries and a caterpillar as she was introduced to the King and Queen.

The reality TV star was keen to speak about her plans to raise money for the charity in a discussion which was captured by BBC News on its TikTok account.

Gemma said to the King: "It is an honour to meet you my Majesty."

Speaking to a journalist off camera, she continued: "I'm looking to make a documentary to make the youngsters aware and I'm really hoping they'll get on board.

"I mean, me, King Charles and Camilla on a safari would be amazing. I did ask him about it, I said 'would you be up for it?'. He was like 'hahaha'. I'll take that as a yes. Thanks, King."
