Gemma Collins and David Beckham lead stars celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Stars such as Sir Paul McCartney, David Beckham and Gemma Collins all took to social media to pay tribute to the Queen Elizabeth II ahead of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations this weekend.

Dame Julie Andrews, Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and actress Sheridan Smith also shared messages of congratulations for the Queen, 96, as she marks 70 years on the throne.

Sir Paul - who was knighted for services to music in 1997 - shared a throwback picture of himself and the current ruling monarch at the opening of the singer's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in 1996.

"70 beautiful years of Queen Elizabeth the second. Congrats ma’ am! And thanks - Paul⁣," The Beatles rocker, 79, captioned the snap shared with his 3.8million followers.

David Beckham also gushed over the Queen on Instagram - sharing a series of images of the Royal at various ages taken throughout her life.

"Today, we celebrate our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. 70 years of service and inspirational leadership of our country. Let’s come together and commemorate her remarkable reign with a great British party these next few days," the former Manchester United star stated online on Thursday.

David's wife Victoria Beckham's former bandmate was also on hand to praise the unelected head of state for her "inspirational leadership" on Instagram.

" HRH , our Queen ‘s 7O years of service and inspirational leadership," Geri Halliwell captioned a snap of herself and the rest of the Spice Girls meeting the Queen during their heyday in the 90s.

The Queen of Essex has got into the royal spirit as she addressed her "loyal subjects" ahead of the big day.

Gemma has transformed the garden at her home she previously dubbed 'Buckingham Palace of Essex' into a patriotic wonderland, with Union Jack flags and purple balloons draped over fences.

The reality TV legend also has a bouncy castle, huge outdoor pool, outdoor furniture for guests to lounge on and enjoy the sunshine and she's even got portaloos.

"There is a huge party at the GC residence today. I am so patriotic, I love the Queen, and I'm going to do her proud today," Gemma told her Instagram followers on Thursday.

"I've hardly slept for two days, I've pulled this party together at last minute. But it is all coming together, it's going to be amazing.

"Happy Jubilee honeys," she signed off.

Away from social media, The Sound Of Music’s Dame Julie Andrews said in a video message shown on BBC News: "Your Majesty, I well remember the beautiful radio speech you gave on your 21st birthday.

"You pledged yourself in service to the people of Britain and the Commonwealth, and I feel that in all the years since you have never betrayed that promise.

"I would like to say my warmest congratulations to you, Ma’am. And thank you."

⁣Actress Sheridan Smith - who received an OBE in 2015 -also sent a message via the BBC, saying: "Your Majesty, one of the last memories I have of my dear father was of him escorting me to Buckingham Palace to receive my OBE.

"It was a very special day for him too and one that he cherished dearly as you have touched the hearts of generation upon generation.

"You are beloved by children, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Your selflessness and dedication to duty is beyond compare.

"I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you and to send you my best wishes on your Platinum Jubilee."

Sheridan's beloved father Colin passed away in 2016.
