Gemma Collins accused of breaking huge Bake Off rule as fans spot hair mistake

Fans of Gemma Collins were loving the reality TV star's confidence and hilarious one-liners in the most recent episode of The Great British Bake Off – but they couldn't help being distracted by her appearance.

The former The Only Way is Essex star appeared on the Channel 4 show in aid of charity Stand Up to Cancer, after recently making the decision to undergo genetic testing following her mum's cancer scare.

The 42-year-old declared herself a "cooking genius" as she whipped up a pink Victoria sponge with raspberries and rose icing for her Signature Bake, and admitted she has a crush on the "gorgeous" Paul Hollywood.

However, one of the major talking points after the show was a major blunder Gemma made, breaking a longstanding rule in the show.

GBBO fans will know that although filming takes place across two days, it feels like it's all done in the same day as contestants always have the same clothes, hair and make up for continuity.

However, it appears The GC didn't get the memo.

Viewers spotted that Gemma, who appeared on the show alongside TV presenter AJ Odudu, actress Jessica Stevenson and comedian Tim Key, made a blunder by having different hairstyles at various points during the episode.

In certain shots, Gemma could be seen with a half down curled style, while in others she had two French plaits at either side of his head.

One eagle-eyed viewer commented on Twitter: "Gemma's hair changes every time the camera is on her #GBBO."

Another added: "Anyone else noticed that Gemma's hair keeps switching between a ponytail and a plait thing?".

"The editing of Gemma's different hairstyles is sending me over the edge…..did she not get the memo that she was meant to look the same #GBBO," remarked a third.

Others were more concerned that she and fellow contestant Jessica hadn't tied her hair up, considering she would be baking.

One viewer said: "Don't understand why the women who come on this show don't tie their hair up."

Another simply said: "Tie that hair back. Wouldn't want to eat those."

At the end of the episode, Gemma, who admitted to host Noel Fielding that she "only" did the show because of Paul, was overjoyed because the judge gave her a celebratory hug.

She shouted: "OH MY GOD! Paul Hollywood cuddled me!"
