Gemma Atkinson shares relatable pregnancy moment as she's left in tears for 'laughable' reason

Gemma Atkinson had fans flooding her with their own experiences as she shared a relatable pregnancy moment on the radio. The Hits Radio host is currently preparing to temporarily bow out of hosting the drivetime show with Mike Toolan on the station as she goes on maternity leave.

Gemma, 38, is expecting her second child with her Strictly Come Dancing star fiance Gorka Marquez and shared the wonderful news with fans back in January. The loved-up couple, who also share a three-year-old daughter, Mia, are now counting down the days until the arrival of baby number two, which they confirmed is a boy and is due in the summer.

And during one of her last shows this week, Gemma shared how she was left in tears for what she said was a 'laughable' reason. The Bury-born star said: "It's my hormones, it has to be, because my reason for getting upset was just laughable."

She then revealed: "I was watching a video on YouTube of Michael Flatley. It was just fabulous." Mike laughed before he asked: "Are you telling me you, watching a Michael Flatley video, has made you cry?"

Gemma appeared to defend the reasons for her emotional response as she replied: "The drums and the..." as they both started to replicate the sound. "And then they all were like in formation. All in perfect timing and when he came out, he sprang across the stage like a gazelle and everyone applauded and I just thought, 'Oh, it's wonderful!'"

Mike then said: "Gemma, pull yourself together," to which she said: "Pull yourself together. He's dancing, I don't cry watching Strictly." Mike then recalled that when his ex, Emma, was pregnant with their son, Luca, she burst into "uncontrollable tears" and said she had "dropped a teaspoon or something."

"It gets to you, Tools," Gemma said before the former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star added: "For anyone who says, 'there's no point crying over spilt milk', say that to a pregnant lady." And Gemma wasn't alone as the comments section was quickly filled with others sharing their stories of spontaneously crying over the little things.

@jackiemackenzie1405 said: "I cried at a tiny turnip in tesco cos its was so small and sweet!" @emma.corby.7 commented: "I cried when a woman’s soufflé on Come Dine with Me worked." @sarah81xoox posted: "I cried over putting coffee instead of a tea bag in a mug one day, don't worry @glouiseatkinson you are not alone.

@jmslat3r replied: "I was the same with the second don’t think my emotions have ever recovered! Still cry at the drop of a hat or spoon. My son is 11 now." @claremariechester added: "I cry at this as well and I’m not pregnant."
