Gemma Atkinson has been left wondering if she'll be ready for her latest photoshoot after admitting she looks like she's been 'whacked in the face'. The Hits Radio host took to Instagram earlier this week after undergoing an emergency procedure.
She was left in agony after having her wisdom tooth removed after suffering from toothache. Gemma, 37, struggled to speak to the camera as she sat in her car after leaving the dentist where she had to be squeezed in for an appointment.
"I was in agony and he took my tooth out," she said. "My wisdom tooth's gone. Bl**dy hell it's sore." The Bury-born star then headed into work on the radio but struggled through the show she hosts with Mike Toolan. "I shouldn't be here," she said, sounding different to her usual self.

But Mike couldn't help but quip: "No you shouldn't be here... I said that about a year ago." Gemma, who is engaged to Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Marquez, soon headed home as she thanked fans for their messages before adding: "I've genuinely never had pain like this. I thought it would just be a case of pop it out, a few painkillers."
"That's dribble," she added, pointing to a spot on her top. "I was dribbling on myself after my anaesthetic. I'm going to rest. Gorka's just given me some strong Spanish painkillers, don't know what they were but apparently, they're very strong and they'll help me."
But there was some positives as Gemma later returned to her Instagram Story as she held an ice pack to the left side of her face and revealed she was being looked after well at home by her three-year-old daughter Mia. In "I've got the cutest little doctor though," Gemma said.
She spun the camera to show Mia giving her some advice, telling her to take some medicine but "not every day because that's dangerous," before also prescribing "lots of cuddles".
But taking to Instagram on Friday night (September 2), it appears things haven't quite yet settled down for the former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actress. "What's so funny is I currently look like I've been whacked in the face," she penned. "And I'm shooting my autumn drop for @inthestyle on Tues."
The mum-of-one then joked: "May have to change it to a boxing range." Gemma's struggle with her tooth pain came just as Gorka returned to their Greater Manchester home. The professional dancer has been busy working on the upcoming 20th series of Strictly which is due to return to screens later this month.
"The 4:00 am alarm was worth it the surprise face in Mia this morning," Gorka penned on Instagram earlier this week alongside a cute photo of him cuddling up to his daughter before sharing a selfie of the family-of-three back together.
And fans thought it was the sweetest. @jenny_1707 said: "Precious moments. Enjoy your time with her." @whitesandshomeaccessories commented: "You both look so happy." @mindfuladventure22 replied: "Gorgeous pic of u both."
