Gemma Atkinson says it's 'weird' as she snuggles up on her own to watch BBC Strictly and sends supportive message to Helen and Gorka

She's been cheering on her fiance Gorka Marquez as he dazzles on the dancefloor with former Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton, and Gemma Atkinson cut a cosy figure as she snuggled down to watch Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night. Hits Radio presenter Gemma was cheering on her man and his celeb dance partner on the BBC dance contest.

Gemma, who competed on the show in 2017 partnered with Aljaž Škorjanec and made it all the way to the final, observed the glitter and the sequins in a super-cute pair of penguin patterned pyjamas from the comfort of their lounge. However the former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actress pointed out that it felt 'weird' to be watching it solo without her little Strictly sidekick.

Gemma explained that she usually watches Strictly Come Dancing with their three-year-old daughter Mia, but was going solo while Mia was staying over with Gemma's sister. "I'm watching solo tonight. Mia's at my sister's sleeping over bless her," she said in a video on her Instagram Stories.

Gemma added: "She's having a little sleepover. It's weird. I normally have my lttle sidekick there going 'papa and Mill Mellor!" Gemma then shared an image of Gorka and Helen looking triumphant after their salsa to Despacito. She showed her pride and support by adding a stream of applauding hands to the picture.

Gemma previously revealed that Mia is a big fan of Coronation Street actor Will and is supporting him and his pro partner Nancy Xu just as much as her 'Papa' and Helen. Mia has even named a stuffed elf toy after the former Two Pints of Lager star.

Gemma wrote about their reaction: "Will does know and he finds it hilarious [crying laughing emoji]. Gorka, not so much," she typed. "He doesn't want her fancying anyone until she's at least 28."

Last weekend Gorka brought home a special gift for his little girl after he and Helen danced the jive to Janelle Monae’s Tightrope. They looked dapper in matching black suits, ties and fedora hats.

Gorka took to Instagram with a picture of himself and Mia donning the smart hats from their show-stopping routine. "Mia wanted to wear the Hats from our Jive," he typed alongside a heart-warming photo. "Is it me or can she look more cute."
