Gemma Atkinson explains Strictly results to daughter asking why dad Gorka wasn't cheered

Gemma Atkinson has had to explain the Strictly Come Dancing results to daughter after she asked why dad Gorka Marquez wasn't being cheered.

The 37-year-old took to her Instagram page to share a clip explaining to Mia that she shouldn't be upset as her dad would be through to the next week.

Helen Skelton and Gorka impressed judges at the weekend as they scored an impressive 32 out of a possible 40 for their Foxtrot to Lil’ Red Riding Hood by Sam The Sham and The Pharaohs during the BBC One dance contest's Halloween special on Saturday night.

The presenter channelled Little Red Riding Hood while Gorka immersed himself into the role of the wolf during their routine.

Judge Motsi Mabuse told the pair: "I honestly have to say I adore watching you dance. I see you getting stronger and stronger… I know it’s quite early but you are giving me some final vibes."

However, the dancing duo had a nerve wracking moment on Sunday night as they were the last couple to be put through to the next week ahead of the dance off.

Despite host Tess Daley saying the couples are revealed in no particular order, it was still a scary moment for the pair.

Gorka's three-year-old daughter Mia didn't understand why nobody cheered for Helen and Gorka when they got through.

Sharing a video on her Instagram Story, Gemma showed Mia looking slightly sad.

Gemma said: "But he's back next week," as Mia asked: "Why were they not shouting?"

Gemma then replied: "They didn't shout him because he was in the last two but he's definitely, definitely back next week."

The mum of one was watching the results with some friends, including CrossFit athlete Jamie Simmonds who also tried to explain what happened to Mia, saying if they shouted it looked like they would be cheering about the other couple who might've been going home.

The sweet moment came after Mia seemed just as excited that Will Mellor had also got through to the next week.

Gemma revealed that her daughter is a fan of the actor and even named a giant Christmas elf after him.

Gemma later filmed another video telling her millions of followers that Will does in fact know about his biggest fan.

She revealed that Mia actually got a video message from Will.

When she asked what he did on the video, Mia showed a finger wag motion as if to say 'come here'.

"She likes him when he does this [gesturing a come here motion with her finger] in his dance and so he sent her a video saying, 'Hi Mia,' and does it to her," Gemma explained.
