Gemma Atkinson asks for fans' advice as she shares how far along she is in her pregnancy

Gemma Atkinson has asked for her fans' advice as she confirmed how far along in her pregnancy she actually is after revealing she was expecting her second child this summer. The Hits Radio host announced last weekend that she and her fiance Gorka Marquez would be adding to their brood with a sibling for daughter Mia.

The loved-up couple, who welcomed Mia into the world in July 2019 after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, also revealed that they were expecting a baby boy as they posted a string of black and white images of Gemma showing off her blossoming bump and a selfie of the expanding family-of-three.

Since then, Gemma has been offering little insights into her pregnancy so far on social media and on Sunday (January 29) asked her loyal followers for some help and advice.

The mum-of-two-to-be, who looked glowing, could be seen relaxing at her Greater Manchester home alongside three-year-old Mia as she said: "I'm just over fourth months now with this little fella in here who's not so little, actually. He's big."

Gemma, 38, then asked: "Did any of you guys have an emergency section followed by a vaginal birth? I don't want to say normal birth because no birth is 'normal' is it? You get a baby at the end and we're all extremely, extremely lucky but I'd be lying if I said it's not something I've thought about."

The former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star then briefly mentioned her first labour with Mia which was quite traumatic for both mother and baby as well as for dad, Gorka. "Obviously last time with Mia it was a success because we are both here but it didn't go as I imagined it would," she said with a laugh.

"So I'm just looking for a bit of, 'I was in the same situation and I had a vaginal birth the second time' if anyone has experience that can you just let me know and let me know how it was."

As she alluded to, Gemma didn't have the easiest of times in labour and previously said she thought she had ‘failed’ at childbirth. She needed an emergency C-section when doctors realised Mia's heart rate had dropped and Gemma almost died when she lost nearly a litre of blood after suffering a haemorrhage.

“At first it did,” Gemma told the Manchester Evening News last year when asked whether her traumatic birth story had made her hesitant of wanting any more children. “I remember saying to Gorka when Mia was a day or so old, ‘I’m not doing this again because I’d be scared to death of it happening again’. But I don’t know if it’s nature's way of making you forget but not that I forget what happened but I think for me seeing Mia thrive and how she is, I’d do it all again in a heartbeat to have another little human.

“I get it when lads say there’s nothing more painful than being kicked in the balls because you’ll never hear another man saying, ‘Fancy kicking me in the balls again?’ but you’ll always get a woman saying, ‘Shall we have another baby?’ And I think that’s because we’re programmed to forget the pain and the reward of having your baby overshadows all of it.”
