The Great British Bake Off 2022 viewers were divided on Tuesday night, as there was no elimination despite some disastrous bakes.
As judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith sat down to work out who to send home, there were three names tipped to be the unlucky baker.
Carole, Kevin and Dawn were all facing the chop on Tuesday night, as the pair debated who should stay and who should go.
But as hosts Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding gathered the bakers in the tent to reveal who was leaving then and there, they soon dropped a surprise bombshell.
The bakers were relived as the hosts confirmed that in a twist, no one would be sent home this week after two other hopefuls had to miss Bread Week.
Matt revealed: "Well this week nobody is going home. The judges felt that given the quality here and the fact Rebs and Abdul aren’t here, everybody deserves the chance to bake again."
Many viewers were thrilled, believing it would not have been fair to send home one of the group when two of them had not taken part in the bake.
But others were annoyed at the twist, believing someone still should have been axed from the show.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "Thank goodness!!!! No one's going home this week!!! Everyone comes back next week!!!"
Another agreed: "And no one going home :)) a good week," as a third added: "Yay. No one left this week."
A fourth viewer tweeted: "Right decision - wouldn’t have been fair to send someone home, when there’s two who didn’t bake."
However, some fans were not as pleased with one writing: "Am I the only one who feels weirdly cheated when no one goes home? Not out of any malice towards the bakers, just unsatisfying somehow."
Another said: "Weeks where nobody goes home are pointless," while a third fan called it a "cop out".
It comes after the first elimination last week, that saw Tom exit the show after a disaster with his showstopper.
Judge Prue deemed his signature swiss rolls to be “not at all bad” and he came fifth out of 12 in the technical for a well-baked malt loaf.
But unfortunately Tom, 28, ran out of time during his concert hall showstopper, which was flawed from the outset for not actually defying gravity.
The software engineer from Kent admitted he felt disappointed to leave so early, saying: “It didn’t go to plan at all. But I am definitely proud of myself.
“My showstopper was a bit of a disaster. The judges said that for an anti-gravity cake it didn’t defy the laws of gravity.
“I know it’s hard to go out first and it was short and sweet, but it was an experience that I won’t forget. I am shy so can’t quite believe I have been on national TV.”
The Great British Bake Off airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
