GB News Star Explodes in Fiery Grooming Gangs Debate: ‘You Make Me Sick!

(Image: GB News)

GB News presenter Michelle Dewberry erupted in frustration during a heated debate on grooming gangs, accusing former Labour advisor Scarlett MccGwire of “turning a blind eye” to the issue.

The discussion reignited after billionaire Elon Musk publicly criticized Labour leader Keir Starmer, alleging he had failed to protect sexually exploited children in the UK. During her interview with MccGwire, Dewberry argued that Starmer had not adequately addressed the problem, insisting that politicians and commentators must educate themselves on the subject.

“I can’t understand that you don’t want to read and understand what has happened to these girls,” Dewberry said. “You as an individual. You’re a paid current affairs commentator. This is one of the biggest stories that’s been dominating headlines internationally. Why wouldn’t you want to understand?” MccGwire defended her decision not to read victim transcripts, explaining that the details of abuse made her physically ill.

“It just makes me sick,” she told the GB News presenter. But Dewberry was unconvinced, calling out MccGwire for failing to engage with the material despite discussing the topic on-air multiple times. “You sat on here last week and we had this conversation. One of my panelists asked you specifically, ‘Have you read the transcripts?’ And you said no. Fast forward a week and you still haven’t read them,” Dewberry pressed.

“I can’t process. I cannot understand.” MccGwire pushed back, arguing that knowing the graphic details would not change her belief that action was needed. “I seriously cannot understand why finding out the absolute details of what happened to these poor, poor girls would make me feel any more strongly that something has got to happen,” she stated.

“These girls were absolutely let down by everybody—by social workers, by councilors, by the police. It makes you feel sick.” Dewberry fired back, saying it was politicians’ refusal to support a national inquiry into grooming gangs that disgusted her. “I’ll tell you what makes me feel sick—the fact that people still have not cottoned onto the absolutely disgusting nature of what has happened to these people,” she said.

“It’s not acceptable for people in the media to say, ‘You know what? I’m going to turn a blind eye to this.’” MccGwire denied ignoring the issue, stating that she had spoken to politicians about inquiries into grooming gangs. She also accused Dewberry of unfairly placing all the blame on her. Dewberry, however, did not back down.

“Well, I’m sick of it. I think, especially if you’re a paid current affairs commentator, you have to make sure that you understand the issues of which we’re discussing,” she said. “I am getting sick and tired, to broaden this out.” The tense exchange has sparked debate among viewers, with many echoing Dewberry’s call for greater accountability from politicians and the media on the issue of grooming gangs in the UK.
