Meghan Markle has come under fresh fire after a GB News guest tore into her latest projects, claiming she “does not do herself any favors.” During a chat with presenters Anne Diamond and Stephen Dixon, commentator Emma Woolf didn’t hold back as she dissected what she called the Duchess’s “latest blunder.”
Stephen kicked things off by asking, “What’s the latest scandal?” to which Emma replied, “Oh dear, well, she’s had lots of blunders, hasn’t she, in her rise to global domination?” Emma then pointed out past issues with Meghan’s commercial ventures, including copying brand names and missteps with Netflix projects, according to The Express.
She struggled to get the name of Meghan’s Netflix show right, joking about it being something like “With Love Meghan… Comma” — before bringing up a previous project that never made it to air. Emma reminded viewers that part of Meghan and Harry’s huge Netflix deal, reportedly worth £100 million, included a children’s animated series called Pearl. The concept was meant to follow a young girl who draws inspiration from influential women in history.
But, as Emma revealed, there was a problem. Pearl was also the name of a children’s book series created by British author Mel Elliott — Pearl Power — and the similarities were apparently too close for comfort. Emma claimed that the author had to send a cease and desist letter to Meghan, alleging that the duchess’s show closely resembled her own original work.
Reports claim that the author’s legal team contacted Meghan in July 2021, writing: “The similarities between your proposed animation series and my client’s work appear to be too many and too striking to be mere coincidence.” Not long after, Meghan and Netflix quietly scrapped the project.
Emma didn’t hold back on her thoughts about Meghan and Prince Harry either, saying: “I think that they are digging themselves into this. Her ventures, she doesn’t do herself any favours.” She added that she finds the couple “so annoying in everything they do.”
While Meghan continues to juggle a range of media and business projects, the backlash from critics like Emma shows the couple still faces intense scrutiny, especially when it comes to how their big-money ventures play out.
