Since the ceasefire in Gaza, nearly 600,000 Palestinians have returned to northern Gaza, only to find their homes in ruins. The aftermath of the 16-month-long war has left families like Rawya Tamboura's struggling to survive amidst the destruction. With no running water, electricity, or services, daily life is a challenge.

The World Bank, U.N., and European Union estimate that it will cost $53 billion to rebuild Gaza. However, the lack of funding and resources hinders any significant rebuilding efforts. Humanitarian agencies are providing aid, including free kitchens, water delivery stations, and temporary shelters.

Despite the challenges, families are trying to cope day by day. Tamboura's family lives in a partially collapsed house, relying on water distribution stations and scavenging for firewood. Others, like Asmaa Dwaima, face the harsh reality of seeing their homes reduced to rubble.

Desperation is growing among the displaced families, as they mourn their former lives and struggle to rebuild. Huda Skaik, a student, reflects on the massive destruction but tries to remain positive amidst the chaos.

As Gaza faces an uncertain future with the ceasefire ending soon, the population grapples with the immense task of rebuilding their lives from the ruins of war.
