Gavin and Stacey's Pam actress Alison Steadman gives update on show's return

Gavin and Stacey fans have been desperate for the show to return after it ended in 2010.

The much-loved BBC sitcom returned for a one off special on Christmas Day back in 2019, but left fans wanting even more as it cut off on a cliffhanger. Today Alison Steadman, who played Pam on the programme, appeared on ITV's Lorraine to chat to the Scottish host about the show's return.

Recently, show creator and Smithy star James Corden has quit his job over in the States and is reportedly returning to the UK. This fuelled rumours of Gavin and Stacey's return, and today Alison said she would "definitely" want to be in any new episodes.

Lorraine said: "Everybody wants Gavin and Stacey to come back because they left us on the biggest cliff hanger ever. James Corden is coming back over here so if we could get you all in the one place at the one time who knows?"

Alison, who was born in Liverpool and grew up in Childwall, said: "Who knows? I don't know. I get asked this every day." She added: "I'm so proud of it. I loved being in it, I loved it when we did the Christmas special when it came back. If there was to be another show I would definitely want to be in it."

Speaking of working with her on-screen husband, Mick, played by Larry Lamb, the actress said: "Me and Larry, Pam and Mick, it was just easy because we felt right straight away. We didn't have to sort of work at it. When you've got a scene where you've got to jump in bed with someone you've got to feel relaxed."
