Gavin and Stacey actress Joanna Page can’t wait to be reunited with her co-stars when filming gets underway for the newly confirmed Christmas special.
Creators James Cordon and Ruth Jones announced on Friday that the beloved comedy series will be back for a Christmas finale.Speaking about reprising her role as Stacey Shipman on a special episode of her Off The Telly podcast with co-host Natalie Cassidy, Page said: “I’m so excited to see the gang again and start filming, and I can’t wait to find out if Smithy has said yes. I can’t wait to find out what’s happening to everybody!
“I’m going to have to keep that script away from your [Natalie’s] little paws but yeah we are going to be able to review it on our show at Christmas and I will be very cross if you aren’t sitting down on Christmas Day watching me!”
Gavin and Stacey originally ran over three series between 2007 and 2010 but returned for a one off Christmas special in 2019, which left viewers on a cliffhanger.
On December 25 this year, fans might finally find out if Smithy and Nessa (Corden and Jones’s characters) get together and if the details of the notorious secret “fishing trip” will come out.
Corden wrote on Instagram: “Some news… It’s official!!! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.” The special Gavin and Stacey mini-episode of Off the Telly is available to listen to on BBC Sounds now
