Barry Island is getting excited as filming for Gavin and Stacey is underway.
Co-writers and actors in the show James Corden and Ruth Jones were spotted in Wales, with advertised road closures indicating filming will begin this week.
Corden also confirmed the news over on his Instagram on September 2, sharing a picture of his character Smithy’s car with the caption: “Day 1. Here we go.”
On August 30, Welsh actor Rob Brydon, who plays Uncle Bryn on the show, posted a selfie with Ruth Jones to Instagram, writing: "Something's occurring...".
Corden announced back in July that the script for the final episode was done.
Started in 2007, the series is set in Essex - the home of Mathew Horne's character Gavin - and Wales.
The show, which won two Bafta TV awards in 2008 and a National Television Award in 2010, was primarily filmed in and around the town of Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, with several sequences set in England.

On Friday, May 3, Corden posted a picture of himself and Jones holding up the completed screenplay for a brand-new Christmas special called "Gavin and Stacey: The finale" on Instagram.
The caption read: 'Some news… It’s official!!! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.’

When is the Gavin and Stacey special?
The Gavin and Stacey special will air on Christmas Day in 2024.
It will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, albeit the times have not yet been revealed.
Although the plot is currently unknown, viewers are looking for clarification after Nessa made a proposal to Smithy in the 2019 special.
And we might even get to learn about what transpired on that fishing excursion.
