Mumbai: Industrialist Gautam Adani met NCP chief Sharad Pawar at the latter's residence in Mumbai on Thursday amid the Opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Adani-Hindenburg issue.
The meeting lasted for nearly two hours, sources said.
Earlier this month, Pawar had come out in support of the Adani group and criticised the narrative around the US short seller Hindenburg Research's report on the conglomerate.
However, later Pawar said he is not opposed to a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the charges made by Hindenburg Research against the Adani group, but a Supreme Court committee will be more useful and effective.
The Supreme Court had last month ordered the setting up of a six-member committee headed by a former apex court judge to look into various regulatory aspects for stock markets of Adani group.
The Hindenburg Research has made many allegations, including fraudulent transactions and share-price manipulation, against the business conglomerate. The Adani group has rejected the charges as lies. (with Agency inputs)
