Restaurant group Gaucho is rewarding runners who successfully complete this year’s London Marathon with an Argentinian steak on the house, served with chimichurri sauce.
To claim the meal, all runners must do is show their medal at one of Gaucho’s London restaurants.
The offer is available from the 2025 TCS London Marathon race day on April 27 to May 1, so runners have a chance to relax — and shower — before tucking in.
A Gaucho representative told the Standard the offer is as simple as it seems for medal winners, but there is one catch — they must dine with at least one other person who is not eligible for the freebie (two medal holders would, for instance, have to eat with a third non-medal holder). The free steak is also not available in conjunction with any other offers or discounts, including set menus, and the non-medal holder must order a main course.
The steak chain, famed for its Argentinian meat, has 12 restaurants across the city, including those by Tower Bridge, in Covent Garden and on Piccadilly.
The London Marathon is one of the world’s most famous long distance races, with more than 40,000 people expected to attempt to run the 26.2 miles course this year, which takes in many of the city’s most famous landmarks, before finishing at The Mall. The first London Marathon was held in 1981.

Gaucho’s complimentary steak is one of a number of freebies that will be available across the capital for successful 2025 marathon runners. Free Aperol Spritz and beers are being offered by the Greene King group, while the Heliot Steak House in the Hippodrome Casino will also be offering a free steak alongside free burgers, among the other perks being offered by the capital’s businesses.
