GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida reported no new positive COVID-19 cases on the football team for the first time since September as Dan Mullen's squad has moved past an outbreak of the virus that stopped the program in its tracks last month.

The data is based on test results from Tuesday of last week through Monday, during which the school said 50 tests were performed.

Elsewhere in the athletics department, UF reported no athletes in a sport other than football tested positive for COVID-19 a week after six were reported to be newly infected with the virus.

The No. 10 Gators (3-1) prepare for Saturday's showdown with No. 5 Georgia a little more than a week after returning from a two-week layoff due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

Following the Gators Oct. 10 loss at Texas A&M, 31 players and some coaches including Mullen tested positive for the virus during a two-week span, forcing the school to suspend team activities and postpone two games.

The Gators returned to the field Saturday to face Missouri without 15 UF players available, many of them recovering from the virus. Those who had recovered and returned to practice last week had to undergo an SEC-mandated four-day period easing back into full practices.

Despite the challenges, UF coasted to a 41-17 win over Missouri.
