When comedian and TV presenter Joel Dommett revealed his Ant and Dec tattoo as an ultimate tribute for helping him in his career, Geordie lass April Dyer was already two steps ahead.
Social media went wild earlier this week when Joel showed off his tattoo on the back of his ankles on TV.
And Joel, who starred in I’m A Celebrity four years ago, said on the ITV2 spin-off show Extra Camp, that his career has been helped by being involved with the show and singled out the Geordie duo for praise.
But April had beaten him to it and was already wearing her #Ant and Dec inking on her right thigh along with an #Alan Shearer tattoo above it.
“I couldn’t believe it when Joel revealed his Ant and Dec tattoos because I’ve also got them, it shows we had the same thoughts because we both love Ant and Dec,” said April, 25, of Heworth, Gateshead.
“I went to Magaluf with six other girls for my 24th birthday in April last year and when I was there I’d had a few to drink and decided to get a tattoo.
“I went to the tattoo studio and got Ant and Dec on my right thigh. They’re a famous Geordie pair so why not,” she added.
“The year before I was in Magaluf with the girls on a hen do and I got an Alan Shearer tattoo. It was the girls who were shouting Alan Sherearer, Alan Shearer and so I went for it. I put the hashtag first so it looked as though it was trending on Twitter. Then I’ve gone for the Ant and Dec tattoo and I love them both.
“I don’t regret them, in fact they always spark a good conversation when anyone asks if I’ve got any tattoos.”
Ant and Dec found out about Joel’s tattoo when they joined him and co-hosts Emily Atack and Adam Thomas for a word play game, when he made his big reveal.
Joel told them: “You two have been an important part of my life for years.”
Ant jumped up in excitement as he had an inkling about the inking that was about to be shown.
He exclaimed: “I’ve seen this on your Instagram.”
Joel then turned his back to the cameras to reveal that he had Ant and Dec tattooed on the back of each leg, much to delight the Geordie pair.
Such was the excitement about Joel’s new ink, Emily Atack said that she would get the same on her breasts but Dec urged her that wouldn’t be necessary.
Joel previously shared a picture of him having the tattoos done to his Instagram account.
His followers were quick to comment about them and one fan teased: “Got their names on the wrong sides”
April, a revenue assistant, added: “After Joel revealed his tattoo all my friends and family were messaging me on social media reminding me of mine. It’s just a laugh but friends and family are asking what I’ll get next - it could be Cheryl or Bobby Robson. “
