Emergency services are on the scene of a 'gas-related incident' thought to be an explosion this morning (June 6). Fire crews rushed to the scene at around 9.51am in Bournemouth, Dorset.
Dorset Police are also present alongside paramedics, with people living in the area saying they heard a 'big boom', DorsetLive reports. Gas network company SGN has confirmed that the homeowner was inside at the time and has since been taken to hospital. There is no further word on their condition.
Katie Lobban, spokesperson for SGN, said: "Following reports of an explosion in Gunville Crescent, Bournemouth, our engineers joined the emergency services on site earlier this morning.
"We understand the homeowner who was in the house at the time has been taken to hospital, our thoughts are with them.
"It’s too early to speculate as to what has happened, and we are working closely with the authorities to help discover the cause. Our engineers are carrying out essential checks to make the situation safe for the local community."
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: "We received a call at 9.51am this morning about a gas-related incident on Gunville Crescent, Bournemouth. Crews from Redhill Park, Springbourne and Poole are currently in attendance, along with our police and ambulance colleagues."
One person who claimed to have been on scene shortly after the incident did claim that a woman had to be rescued from under rubble.

Someone who reportedly witnessed the immediate aftermath of the blast said: "(It) Happened at about 9.40 am this morning, I heard a big boom came outside and some guys were already in there helping the lady who lives there! She was trapped under rubble."
Video taken from the scene appears to show a large amount of debris outside a building. There is also a building which appears to have sustained damage.
