Gary Neville sends damning Glazers message to Manchester United owners

Manchester United great Gary Neville has criticised the Glazer Family over their decision to take £11million out of the club in dividends this Friday.

Despite being worth an estimated $3.1bn, according to Forbes, the Glazers have regularly taken sums of money out of the football club. Last month it was confirmed that United's debts had risen to nearly £500m in their latest financial accounts.

This figure was announced as United continued to feel the pressure created by the Coronavirus pandemic. United's finances are unlikely to improve any time soon either after they failed to qualify for next season's lucrative Champions League.

With major improvements also needed off the field to help new manager Erik ten Hag, Neville has spoken out against the club's owners on Twitter. In his tweet, Neville said: " The Glazer Family should not be taking £11m in dividends this Friday.

"It isn’t right with the investment needed in the team, stadium and training ground. The club's cash position is low compared to previous years.

"An announcement is needed to halt it for the next three years minimum." On the pitch, United have still not splashed any cash in this transfer window.

Ten Hag's main goal is to improve central midfield this summer. United's board are believed to be working on a deal to bring Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford as their first piece of business.
