Gary Neville's stance on joining former Manchester United teammate David Beckham at Inter Miami

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has confirmed he would not be interested in joining David Beckham at Inter Miami.

Neville and Beckham have been good friends since their days at Old Trafford with the ex-defender being chosen as Beckham's best man at his wedding. Their friendship has also extended into the football world as Beckham became a director at League Two Salford City alongside the Sky Sports pundit.

However, the 48-year-old has admitted he would not be interested in joining Beckham's project in America because of his roots in Manchester. Speaking to The Guardian, he explained: "I don’t think so.

"I’m too embedded in Greater Manchester. I love it here. It’s where my businesses are and where my life’s been. I want to give back to this place and be part of this brilliant community."

Beckham has overseen a turbulent few weeks at the MLS club which began at the beginning of the month when Neville's brother Phil was sacked after a run of poor results in the Eastern Conference. Following his departure, the Herons' fortunes have not improved and they currently sit bottom following a 4-1 defeat to Philadelphia Union this weekend.

But, the future is looking bright for Miami after they confirmed the signings of two Barcelona legends. Lionel Messi agreed to join Inter after his contract expired at PSG and this arrival was followed by Sergio Busquets' signing after he left Camp Nou following 18 successful years at the Catalan club.

Beckham's Miami return to action with a home clash against Austin next weekend.
