Gary Neville reveals what Liverpool did without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane shocked him

Gary Neville said what everyone was thinking after last weekends set of results: "we do have a title race on our hands."

Liverpool's win over Norwich City closed the gap at the top of the Premier League to six points, but Manchester City had the chance to extend that back to nine points.

Pep Guardiola's side were handed a shock defeat by Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium, keeping Liverpool just three points adrift.

Neville wrote off any chance of a title race when Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both left for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, but the Reds came through with flying colours.

Liverpool are a great side,” said Neville. “Without Mane and Salah, for the last month, which makes it incredibly difficult for them to chase down Manchester City.

“But if you said to me two or three weeks ago, ‘Mane and Salah go to the Africa Cup of Nations, get to the final and Liverpool end up closing the gap on Man City’.

“Then, I would have said ‘no that’s not going to happen’ because Manchester City have looked absolutely incredible’. But we do have a title race.”

Liverpool face Leeds United on Wednesday night in their game in hand and could close the gap to just three points.
